It's difficult for the Australian squad to break new ground.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

This is the team that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, along with another six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed over three years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, those for the record chasers, are all that remain for a squad that has achieved everything.

That it took until Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase above 300, taking back their record for the highest in the female 50-over format, is, in truth, a compliment to the bowlers that have represented Australia over the last half-century.

It's challenging for their hitters to hold a record if not afforded the chance.

Ultimately, the outcome of Australia giving up 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy being given a platform to produce her latest masterpiece.

Originally famous as the teenage relative of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her country couldn't capture either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups held the previous year and has seen it all through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 championship victory happened three months after her bow and seven global championships have followed from 10 tries across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India briefly halted the run of success.

That loss "drove us to rethink our standards," Healy said this week.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the title decider and was named player of the tournament. She ensured her country would not come up short.

Whether this recent magnificent innings topped that previous effort is debatable.

Many contend the case for final game tension. Others can counter with the difficulty that comes when confronting a historic chase and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's definite is this ton was much more difficult to anticipate.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 occurred when she topped the run-scoring charts, but this innings was preceded by six games in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've observed me in practice sessions, it has been a challenging time because I feel like my form was missing at all," commented Healy.

"However when you step out on the field, your competitive nature kick in and you completely engage with the match."

Healy's fighting spirit has continuously been her key asset - and an irreplaceable characteristic in replacing legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, fallen to the 22-year-old seamer in every game, but this time it merely gave Healy's inspiration.

One run resulted off the bowler's initial ball and from there Healy was on her way.

"The possibility to take the field and engage in competition with her and merely enjoy the moment that way, somewhat inspired me," stated Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 deliveries - her quickest at the global tournament - and her century in 84 deliveries while she attacked short-pitched balls, striking 21 boundaries and three sixes.

By the time she was removed her side required another 66 at one run per ball - an unconquered height now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"To chase 330 is new territory so I'm happy we have the confidence to accomplish that now," added Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to repeat it but, if we do, we know we can achieve it."

Those words will be the ultimate thing Australia's opponents at this championship need to hear.

During the last week a sense they will triumph from any situation has only strengthened - this success coming after win against Pakistan by 107-run victory despite sitting at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a meeting with traditional opponents England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a last-four spot may likely be confirmed.

It was at that stage they exited the previous year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a game Healy couldn't play because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the initial instance at a significant event.

So strong is her resolve, she subsequently stated she wished she had played despite the injury.

Yet even as she later admitted those injuries have pushed back thoughts of retirement, this championship is expected to be her final tournament as skipper in ODI cricket and she is still to achieve a global event as leader.

Success in India would bring her to the top of her ultimate challenge.
