"This title is in dedication of my second daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I won when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."
The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his previous six finals, comprising in the German tournament in the past months.
His counter-punching strategy and recurring reactions on court had led observers to question if his skill to perform at the top level was finished.
However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and play aggressively, supported by an improved serving game.
He recovered from a deficit in the first set against the challenging Frenchman, taking four of the final five exchanges to go ahead.
Both players traded service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial tour title, took control to create a final set.
He saved 4 early-game chances in a competitive final set before Medvedev secured a break to fifteen to serve for the match.
Fittingly, Medvedev secured victory with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet failing to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
