Legal authorities have stated that a former physician has been charged with committing assaults involving 38 victims who were patients.

The Serious Allegations

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of acts of sexual assault – some of which involve some against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.

A deputy chief CPS official said, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to assist a thorough and intricate investigation, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

Scope of the Police Inquiry

The charges follow what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported assaults at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.

The defendant will appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.

List of Charges

Prosecutors outline the forty-five charges comprise:

  • 15 counts of sexual assault.
  • 17 counts of assault by penetration.
  • Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
