Iran Reports Strike on American Facility in Bahrain, During Widespread Counterattacks.
Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Manama, as the country executed strikes throughout the Middle East in response for a "massive" and ongoing offensive against it by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity in the area of the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any destruction is uncertain and the American officials has remained silent.
Regional Interceptions
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to US military bases - reported they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their territorial skies.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was striking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the attack on Iran launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That US-Israeli operation - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck locations associated with the Iranian leadership, with President Trump urging the people of Iran to rise up against the leadership.
Wider Impacts
In Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israeli military reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE announced that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses dealt with the missiles with great effectiveness and shot down a number of missiles," it added.
The statement noted debris fell on a populated district in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some structural damage and killing a civilian.
The United States Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
